Leeds United are actively exploring the Premier League loan market to enhance their squad in the final weeks of the transfer window. As pre-season wraps up and the new campaign looms, clubs are making decisions about player movements.
Looking to make at least three new signings, Leeds is considering loans as a smart approach to bolster their squad without breaking the bank. Last year, the club successfully utilized the loan market to acquire Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, and Jaidon Anthony in the late stages of August.
With only three weeks left until the transfer window closes, it’s crunch time for Leeds to secure new recruits. While Leeds still have four loan spots available, they have only secured Joe Rothwell on a temporary deal from Bournemouth so far.
Despite interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hugo Bueno and Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, it may be difficult to seal deals due to Leeds’ inability to guarantee immediate game time. In fact, Sheffield United appears to be leading the race for Rak-Sakyi’s loan deal.
While Crystal Palace retains the option to recall Rak-Sakyi in January, losing him could be damaging to Leeds’ promotion ambitions. Therefore, Leeds is now focusing on securing a permanent deal for Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe.
Although no official offer has been made, negotiations with Norwich are progressing, with Leeds prepared to increase their bid to match the valuation set by Norwich for Rowe, which is between £15m-£20m. Time is of the essence as other Premier League and foreign clubs remain interested in Rowe.
