Leeds United are reportedly in talks to sign winger Bachir Belloumi from Portuguese club Farense in a deal worth €6 million. The 22-year-old, who impressed with seven goals and four assists in the Primeira Liga last season, has attracted interest from Marseille and Club Brugge as well. However, Leeds seem to be leading the race for his signature as manager Daniel Farke looks to strengthen his attacking options.
The Yorkshire club has already secured the services of midfielder Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Dusseldorf for £3.4 million, and are now eyeing a move for defender Isaac Schmidt from St. Gallen on deadline day.
Leeds are determined to outbid their rivals to land the promising winger, with Farke considering him as a replacement for departed players Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. A proposal of €6 million is expected to be made soon, with Farense likely to accept. However, Belloumi’s decision will play a crucial role in the transfer, with Marseille and Brugge still in the running.
While the prospect of regular playing time in the Championship might influence Belloumi’s decision, the chance to feature in European competitions with other clubs could also sway him. Analyst Ben Mattinson praised the winger’s quality, likening him to Leeds’ star Raphinha, which could excite the fans.
Initially linked with a move for Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, it now seems unlikely that the attacking midfielder will join Leeds as the Blades are reluctant to sell. Farke is now exploring other options to reinforce his squad before the transfer window closes.
