DONE DEAL-MEDICAL BOOKED: Sunderland pull off EPIC hijack to secure signing of Premier League SUPERSTAR – INSANE details unveiled by sources!

Sunderland have struck a deal to bring in Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham on loan, according to sources close to Football Insider.

Although Sheffield United had shown interest in the Wales international, Sunderland managed to swoop in and secure the agreement.

Mepham is now scheduled to undergo a medical and complete other necessary procedures before the transfer deadline at 11pm on Friday (30 August).

Having not featured in any matchday squad for Bournemouth this season, Mepham is looking forward to gaining valuable playing time in the Championship with Sunderland.

Since joining Bournemouth from Brentford in 2019, Mepham has amassed 121 appearances for the club based on the south coast.

With limited playing time last season, Mepham, who has 36 caps for Wales, has found himself further down the pecking order following the arrival of Dean Huijsen.

Sunderland, who currently hold the top spot in the Championship after winning all three of their initial games, have made several additions to their squad this summer.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth still have a strong group of defenders including Huijsen, Ilya Zabarni, Marcos Senesi, and James Hill.

Even though Andoni Iraola’s team has spent significantly this summer, they have managed to secure only two points from their first two Premier League matches of the season.
