In a last-minute frenzy before the transfer deadline, Wolves secured a double signing that has given Gary O’Neil a much-needed boost following a rocky start to the season. After suffering defeats in their first two league games against Arsenal and Chelsea, Wolves were desperate to strengthen their squad before the window closed.
Their efforts paid off as they managed to sign Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense and Carlos Forbs from Ajax just in the nick of time. Andre joins Wolves on a £20m permanent deal, while Forbs comes on board for a season-long loan. Both players are set to make their debut in the Premier League with Wolves.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Wolves also sealed the £10m transfer of Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace. The England goalkeeper, who lost his starting position at Palace, will now compete with Jose Sa for the No1 spot at Molineux.
However, there was also a departure from Wolves on deadline day as Chiquinho headed to Real Mallorca on loan for the remainder of the season. The 24-year-old, who has struggled for playing time at Wolves, will look to gain valuable experience in LaLiga.
