Chris Sutton did not hold back in his criticism of Rangers after their 3-0 loss to Celtic at Celtic Park. Despite missing midfielder Matt O’Riley, Celtic managed to dominate the midfield with Paulo Bernardo stepping up in his absence. The trio of Maeda, Furuhashi, and McGregor provided the firepower needed to secure the win for Celtic.
After the match, Sutton took to social media to praise Celtic’s performance and express his concerns for Rangers. He highlighted McGregor’s outstanding performance and Furuhashi’s sensational display, calling the total demolition of Rangers worrying for the Glasgow side.
Despite Rangers starting strong in the opening minutes, Celtic never looked in trouble and once Maeda found the back of the net, the result was sealed. Rodgers’ side maintained control with 52.6% possession, 14 shots on goal, and solid defensive play against Rangers’ height advantage.
With a five-point lead over Rangers at the top of the table, Celtic’s early season form under Rodgers looks formidable. It will take something special to dethrone them from their dominant position.
