Rafa Mir’s attorney has released a statement following the Valencia striker’s release on bail after facing allegations of sexual assault. Mir was granted bail as authorities began investigating claims by two women who accused him and his friend, Pablo Jara, of sexually assaulting them. The 27-year-old was placed in custody after reports of sexual assault were made to the police.
According to the women’s statements, they had met Mir and Jara at a bar and later accompanied them to Mir’s home. One of the women alleged that Mir sexually assaulted her, while the other claimed Jara physically assaulted her after she refused to engage in sexual behavior. Mir’s passport has been seized, and he is not allowed to have any contact with the alleged victims. Additionally, a restraining order has been issued requiring him to keep a distance of 500 meters from the women. He must also make weekly court appearances and is prohibited from leaving Spain during the ongoing legal proceedings.
In response to the allegations, Mir’s lawyer, Jaime Campaner Munoz, released an official statement denying the charges against his client and emphasizing the importance of respecting Mir’s presumption of innocence as dictated by Spanish and European legal frameworks.
