Viljami Sinisalo has shared his long-term vision for his future at Celtic, recounting a derby moment with Rangers that left him in awe.
After being signed by Brendan Rodgers from Aston Villa for around £1million, Sinisalo committed to a five-year deal with the Scottish champions. Despite currently serving as backup to Kasper Schmeichel, the goalkeeper from Finland is determined to become the main man in goal for Celtic. He expressed his excitement for the opportunity to play for such a prestigious club and revealed that he was taken aback by the sheer magnitude of Celtic upon his arrival.
In an interview with Finnish outlet MTV Uutiset, Sinisalo explained, “Joining Celtic was a no-brainer. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the chance to play here is rare. The goal is clear – I aim to become Celtic’s number one goalkeeper in the future. I understand it won’t happen overnight, but I’m prepared to put in the work.”
Reflecting on his first few months at Celtic and his experience playing against Rangers, Sinisalo remarked, “The beginning has been fantastic. Victory in the derby was a highlight. The atmosphere at the stadium, with 60,000 fans singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, was truly unforgettable.”
