Leeds United faces Norwich City on Tuesday night in hopes of securing their fifth win in six Championship games, but they will have to do so without their captain Ethan Ampadu.
Under Daniel Farke’s guidance, Leeds has shown improvement defensively and in the final third as they aim for another victory. Despite a 3-0 triumph over Coventry City, the challenges keep coming with upcoming matches against Norwich City and Sunderland.
Unfortunately, Farke received bad news following the Coventry City match as Ampadu sustained a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined until January. Additionally, Max Wöber will miss six weeks due to knee surgery, adding to Leeds’ list of absentees.
Facing Norwich, Leeds will have to adapt their lineup without Ampadu. However, the team’s strong defensive record of five clean sheets in seven league games bodes well. Goalkeeper Illan Meslier, along with defenders Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, and Junior Firpo will aim to maintain their solid defensive form.
In midfield, Ilia Gruev will fill in for Ampadu, while Ao Tanaka is set for his first start with the club after impressing in a substitute appearance against Coventry. Tanaka’s ability to control the game could prove vital in Leeds’ clash with Norwich.
