He failed Rodgers’ test: 3/10 Celtic ace who made just 6 passes was worse than McGregor -opinion

Celtic suffered their first defeat of the season in a disappointing 7-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. The match started with a penalty goal from Emre Can for Dortmund, quickly equalized by Daizen Maeda for Celtic. However, the German team dominated the rest of the game, with Karim Adeyemi scoring a hat-trick before half-time, and adding another two goals in the second half.

Captain Callum McGregor had a tough night, struggling to support his defense and unable to contain Dortmund’s attackers. Despite completing an impressive 92% of his passes and creating one chance, McGregor’s defensive efforts fell short as he was dribbled past twice, the same number of times he successfully tackled opponents.

Midfielder Paulo Bernardo, given a chance to shine, failed to impress against Dortmund. With only six completed passes in 45 minutes and no defensive contributions, Bernardo was substituted at half-time after a lackluster performance.

Rodgers’ decision to start Bernardo over Reo Hatate backfired, as the Portuguese midfielder was unable to cope with Dortmund’s quality. McGregor, while not at his best, at least showed more effort in trying to contain the opposition. Bernardo’s disappointing performance was a clear indication that he may not be ready for big matches for Celtic.
