Newcastle United is already eyeing two potential targets for the upcoming January transfer window. After facing frustrations in the summer window, sporting director Paul Mitchell is taking a more active role and is likely to revisit the pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Despite ongoing discussions with Palace, an agreement was not reached, with the South London club demanding a fee exceeding £70 million for the England international. Newcastle’s final bid of £55 million was rejected, leading to tensions within the Palace hierarchy.
With Guehi having less than two years left on his contract, Newcastle plans to test Palace’s resolve in January. Additionally, the Magpies have set their sights on 17-year-old Dinamo Tbilisi forward Vakhtang Salia. Expected to join Newcastle in 2025, Salia has already made 30 first-team appearances for his current club and has been compared to Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
