Top of the table: Sunderland defeat Hull City to return to the top of the table

Wilson Isidor’s spectacular individual effort propelled Sunderland to a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Hull City in a closely contested match at the MKM Stadium.

The Black Cats sought redemption for a previous defeat to Hull and made a strong start with Chris Rigg and Patrick Roberts linking up effectively on the right flank. Hull’s solid defense limited Sunderland to few opportunities, while also posing a threat on the break themselves.

Both teams struggled to break the deadlock in the first half, with only one shot registered between them.

Hull came out aggressively in the second half, dominating possession and putting pressure on Sunderland’s defense with Mepham and O’Nien making crucial interceptions.

Despite Hull hitting the woodwork through Chris Bedia’s powerful attempt, it was Sunderland who found the decisive goal. Isidor capitalized on a turnover from a Hull corner, embarking on a mesmerizing solo run from midfield before delicately chipping the ball into the net.
