Johan Mjallby, a former player for Celtic, believes that the club will not entertain offers for Nicolas Kuhn unless they reach a hefty fee of approximately £30m during the upcoming January transfer window. Kuhn, who has been in stellar form for the Scottish Premiership leaders, has garnered attention from English Premier League sides Fulham and Brentford, who are reportedly keeping tabs on the 24-year-old winger.
Kuhn’s performances this season have been outstanding, with him notching up an impressive tally of 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. His standout display against RB Leipzig in the Champions League especially caught the eye of many potential suitors. Despite the mounting interest, Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s manager, is keen on keeping hold of the talented winger.
Having signed Kuhn for a fee of £3m from Rapid Vienna last January, Celtic is believed to place a high value on their player, whose contract runs until 2029. However, Mjallby speculates that a bid akin to the £7m Brighton paid for Matt O’Riley could prompt the Celtic board to reconsider selling Kuhn. Nonetheless, Kuhn himself seems content with life in Glasgow, having expressed his admiration for the atmosphere at Celtic Park and his aspiration of earning a spot in the German national team.
With ambitions to dominate domestically and progress in European competitions, Rodgers will likely be reluctant to part ways with Kuhn. The player’s goalscoring prowess and creative abilities make him an integral part of the team’s success this season.
