Southampton manager Russell Martin and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler got into a heated exchange at the end of a tense 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium.
The match was filled with drama, with Southampton feeling robbed of a crucial win due to a controversial VAR decision that ruled out a late goal by Cameron Archer. The decision was made after a lengthy review which deemed Adam Armstrong’s offside position as interfering with the Brighton goalkeeper’s ability to play the ball.
After a whopping 13 minutes of added time, during which Brighton almost scored a winner, tensions boiled over on the touchline.
Both managers had received yellow cards during the match; Hurzeler for dissent and Martin for his reaction to a foul by Downes.
Hurzeler expressed his frustration with the officiating and accused Martin of lacking respect. Martin, on the other hand, criticized Hurzeler’s behavior on the sidelines and questioned the VAR decision.
