According to reports from Caught Offside, West Ham United are in pole position to secure the services of Brighton and Hove Albion’s rising star Evan Ferguson, ahead of competition from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Ferguson, who made a name for himself with some standout performances for the Seagulls a couple of years ago, has faced setbacks due to injuries and has struggled for regular game time this season, starting just once in the Premier League.
Brighton’s new manager Fabian Hurzeler has been impressed by Ferguson’s potential but wants to assess him further in training before making him a key player in the squad. However, the 20-year-old is eager for consistent playing time and is ready to move on.
Brighton are open to letting Ferguson go for around £60m, with a preference for a loan move in the winter followed by a potential permanent transfer next summer. Despite interest from other top clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United, West Ham seems to be frontrunners in securing Ferguson’s signature.
With Michail Antonio, Danny Ings, and Niclas Fullkrug all in their thirties and facing contract issues, West Ham are in need of fresh attacking talent. Ferguson’s potential could be a valuable addition to the Hammers’ squad.
It remains to be seen if West Ham can successfully land the talented forward in January, beating out other top clubs in the race for his signature.
