In a thrilling match at Elland Road, Joe Rodon made a name for himself by scoring his first-ever goal in English football and for Leeds United during a 2-0 victory over Derby County. The win helped Leeds reclaim the top spot in the Championship, outmaneuvering Sheffield United’s upcoming match against West Brom.
Facing a resilient Derby defense and challenging weather conditions, Leeds initially struggled to break through. However, Joe Rothwell’s expertly placed corner found Rodon’s head just before halftime, opening the scoring. Max Wober, replacing the injured Junior Firpo, added another goal shortly after.
Rodon, who missed an earlier chance before converting, attributed their success to intensive set-piece training throughout the week. His first goal for Leeds came after 70 attempts, earning him the Sky Sports player of the match award.
