VAR CHEATING: Jeff Stelling Unleashes furious rants: “It’s a penalty 100%, ‘laughable’, ‘ridiculous’, ‘utterly disgusting’! Over west ham v wolves VAR controversy.

West Ham United’s ability to avoid conceding a penalty against Wolves highlights the absurdity of VAR, according to Jeff Stelling.

During a talkSPORT segment, Stelling expressed his frustration with the PGMOL’s justification for not awarding a penalty when Konstantinos Mavropanos appeared to foul Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

The controversy surrounding the lack of a penalty call was just one of the contentious moments in the Irons’ 2-1 win, with questions also raised about Jarrod Bowen’s decisive goal.

Stelling criticized the decision, stating, “Mavropanos clearly stepped on Bellegarde’s foot, yet the PGMOL claimed the referee did not make a ‘clear and obvious error.’ It’s laughable because everyone, including West Ham fans, could see it was a penalty.”

The victory over Wolves was fraught with drama and controversy, further complicating Julen Lopetegui’s already tumultuous season. Although the win may have provided some relief for the Spaniard, the fine margins and contentious moments suggest that his job security remains precarious.

The match, facing off against his former club, was crucial for Lopetegui’s future, with Gary O’Neil now facing increased pressure following the defeat. Despite the victory, Lopetegui still has much to prove to secure his long-term position at West Ham United.
