The SPFL, along with Rangers and Celtic, denounced the incident. A spokesperson for the SPFL labeled such behavior as unacceptable and urged the identification and punishment of those responsible.

Rangers condemned the incident and pledged cooperation with the police investigation, while a Celtic spokesperson denounced the repeated targeting of players with projectiles as appalling.

Celtic player Alistair Johnston reminded fans to act responsibly at games, emphasizing the humanity of players and urging them to refrain from throwing objects.
