Mark Wilson believes that Rangers were fortunate to finish Thursday’s Old Firm triumph with a full squad of 11 players. Despite a convincing 3-0 victory over Celtic at Ibrox, Wilson feels that the home side should have been reduced to ten men after an incident involving Nicolas Kuhn and Brazilian left-back Jefte.
Kuhn was left with a bloody nose after being struck by Jefte’s swinging elbow, which resulted in a yellow card for the Rangers defender. However, Wilson argues that the severity of the incident warranted a red card, questioning why VAR was not used to review the decision.
Former top-flight referee Des Roache, on the other hand, believes that the collision was reckless and dangerous rather than intentional, justifying the yellow card issued by referee Don Robertson. The SFA’s Key Match Incident panel also agreed with Robertson’s decision, supporting the on-field call.
Despite the controversy, Rangers emerged as clear winners in the match, with goals from Hagi, Propper, and Danilo securing a memorable victory for the Light Blues.
