Manchester United got a taste of Matheus Cunha’s brilliance first-hand during their 2-0 loss to Wolves in December. The 25-year-old forward stunned everyone by scoring directly from a corner in that match.
With Joshua Zirkzee struggling to settle and Rasmus Hojlund out of form, United are looking to strengthen their attacking options in January. They have their eyes set on Cunha, but the Profit and Sustainability Rules are making it difficult to finalize any deals this month.
But United are not the only ones interested in Cunha, as Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are also linked to the Brazilian forward. Wolves, however, are keen on keeping Cunha at least until the summer, with him contributing 10 goals and four assists this season.
Despite United’s struggles in front of goal in recent matches, the potential signing of Cunha could provide them with the attacking spark they need. Wolves value Cunha at £60m, but a new long-term contract could push his asking price even higher.
As Cunha continues to shine, United may have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements if he commits to a new deal with Wolves.
