Wolves have successfully finalized the signing of Reims central defender Emmanuel Agbadou on a permanent transfer, according to reports. The 27-year-old completed his medical in France on Monday before heading to England to complete the deal. Transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that all necessary procedures have been completed.
Romano took to X to announce the news, stating: “Wolves have completed the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou as their new centre-back. The deal is worth €20 million with add-ons included from Reims, and Agbadou has signed a five-year contract with an option for an additional half year.”
New Wolves manager Vitor Pereira will be pleased with the signing as he was in need of a quick, tall, and physical centre-half to bolster his squad. The injury to Yerson Mosquera earlier in the season highlighted the need for reinforcements in defense, and Agbadou will provide a significant boost to the team.
Agbadou has been a standout player for Reims in Ligue 1 over the past few seasons, consistently putting in solid performances. With his experience and aggression, he is expected to make an immediate impact at Wolves. The signing of Agbadou also means that Newcastle will have a clearer path to Lens defender Kevin Danso, who was also on the radar of the Old Gold.
Danso has been a key player for Lens in Ligue 1 and has previously played in the Premier League with Southampton. Newcastle and West Ham United were both reportedly interested in the Austrian defender, but with Wolves securing Agbadou, Newcastle may now have a better chance of signing Danso.
With Wolves strengthening their defense with the addition of Agbadou, Pereira will now have more options at the back as they look to achieve their goals for the remainder of the season.
