It has been over three years since Villa splashed out a reported £33m to bring in Buendia from Norwich City, where he had excelled under the guidance of Daniel Farke.
Now that Farke is leading Leeds, there were rumors linking the Whites with a move for the midfielder during the summer transfer window. Leeds’ CEO Angus Kinnear confirmed that there was interest in the 28-year-old, who has also represented Argentina on the international stage.
Although a transfer did not come to fruition, it seems that Buendia could now have the opportunity to find regular playing time away from Villa Park.
According to Birmingham Live, Emery stated: “We are always looking to improve the team. The players we have here, we always support them. He had a lengthy injury last year but he has been gradually getting better this season.
“He hasn’t been at 100% until now, but he is playing more minutes and helping the team. Perhaps he might have the chance to leave for more playing time, gain confidence, and comfortably return to the starting XI. Currently, he is contributing to our team and I am pleased with his dedication.”
Leeds have been utilizing Brenden Aaronson in the ‘number 10’ role this season, after bringing back the USA international from his loan spell at Union Berlin. Despite scoring seven goals, he has had mixed reviews from the fans.
