Sonny Perkins, a striker for Leeds United, has been making a name for himself while on loan at Leyton Orient this season. With 10 goals in 28 appearances, he has been instrumental in helping the team secure a potential top-six finish. Orient’s manager, Richie Wellens, has expressed interest in signing Perkins permanently after a recent goalless draw against Peterborough United.
It remains to be seen whether Orient will make a move for Perkins before the current transfer window closes in two weeks. Perkins, who began his career at West Ham United, has only scored one goal for Leeds in four senior appearances, which occurred over two years ago in an FA Cup match against Cardiff City.
At just 20 years old, Perkins has a bright future ahead of him, despite only scoring four goals this season. Orient currently sit in eighth place, just three points away from a playoff spot, with a game in hand on sixth-placed Stockport County.
In addition to Perkins, Leeds United could potentially lose other key players this summer, including Sam Byram, Junior Firpo, and Josuha Guilavogui, who are all set to become free agents. Loan players Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon are also expected to return to their parent clubs Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the current campaign in 2024/25.
