Celtic are closing in on their latest transfer target as they aim to secure Crystal Palace defender Jeffrey Schlupp in the final stages of the January transfer window. Football insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Brendan Rodgers is set to boost his squad with the signing of Schlupp, following a verbal agreement between the two clubs.

According to Romano, Celtic have successfully negotiated a loan deal with Palace for the 32-year-old until the end of the season, without an option to buy. Schlupp brings a wealth of experience to the team, having featured heavily for both Leicester City and Crystal Palace since his move in January 2017.

With over 245 appearances for Palace, Schlupp’s versatility allows him to play in various positions including left-back, left wing-back, central midfielder, left winger, and forward. Having won the Premier League with Leicester in 2015-16, the former Ghana international adds valuable experience and depth to Celtic’s squad.

Despite limited game time this season, Schlupp’s arrival will provide much-needed cover for Celtic, especially in the absence of Kieran Tierney who is set to join next summer. With only Greg Taylor as the sole left-back option currently available, Schlupp’s signing comes at a crucial time for Celtic.
With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Celtic will be looking to finalize the deal for Schlupp in the coming hours to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
