“They won’t be able to survive the big boys” What Graeme Souness pens in Leeds United love letter amid 49ers takeover of Rangers as £50m masterplan becomes reality

Graeme Souness, in a recent article for The Daily Mail, has expressed his admiration for the passionate Leeds United team as they climb to the top of the Championship. However, he also issued a warning to the club about the challenges they may face if they make it to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers’ takeover of Rangers is on track, with the SFA reportedly having no issues with the proposal. This deal would see Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe joining the new-look Ibrox board, creating a dual control of both clubs.

Souness reminisced about the intimidating atmosphere of Elland Road and the tough challenges he faced there as a young player. He highlighted the need for a more pragmatic approach for Leeds if they want to survive in the Premier League.

On the other hand, Souness has also urged Rangers to invest in quality additions to close the gap with Celtic. With mega money expected to be injected into the club, the possibility of bridging that divide may finally become a reality. However, financial sustainability rules will limit how much can be spent on players, coaches, and transfers.
