BLASTING RESPONSE: Chris Sutton’s brilliant response to Robbie Savage’s jibes over Celtic and ‘biggest club’ claim

Few people in the world of sports punditry are as passionate about Celtic as Chris Sutton. During Celtic’s legendary Treble-winning season under Martin O’Neill, Sutton was a key player in the team.

While winning Trebles may seem common for Celtic now, the class of 2000/01 achieved this feat for the first time since 1968/69, a remarkable achievement that will always be remembered.

Now, fans can catch Sutton on Sky Sports or BBC Radio, where he proudly talks about Celtic being one of the biggest clubs in the world.

During a discussion with Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton corrected himself after claiming Celtic was ‘the biggest club in the world’ saying it was ‘one of the biggest’. Savage, however, mockingly questioned this statement and brought up Sutton’s move to Scotland during his career.

Sutton, who not only achieved success with Celtic but also won the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers, politely defended his stance on Celtic’s status as one of the biggest clubs in the world.

In contrast, Savage captained the Derby County side, infamous for being the worst team in Premier League history, with just 11 points in 2008.
