MEGA DONE DEAL: Celtic ready to splash record-breaking Deal for £12m+ “tormentor”, who is way better than Edouard.

In a bold move during the January transfer window, Brendan Rodgers gave the green light for Celtic’s striker Kyogo Furuhashi to move to Ligue 1 team Rennes for £10m midway through the season. This decision came shortly after the Hoops had secured a spot in the Champions League play-off round.

Before his transfer to France, Kyogo had an impressive record with 85 goals in 165 appearances for Celtic, including 34 goals during the 2022/23 season. Despite his departure, Rodgers chose not to immediately replace him with another striker, opting instead for Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah, and Johnny Kenny as his forward options.

However, there is speculation that Celtic may be in the market for a new striker in the summer transfer window, with Rodgers possibly searching for the next Odsonne Edouard.

The Hoops famously struck gold when they signed Edouard on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, eventually securing him permanently for a club-record fee of £9m in 2018. Edouard’s impressive goal-scoring stats during his time at Celtic, including two Golden Boots and four league titles, made him a pivotal part of the team before his move to Crystal Palace in a deal that could reach £18.5m.

Now, Celtic are reportedly eyeing Brondby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden as a potential club-record signing for the upcoming season. The 23-year-old Danish striker has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt, with a reported price tag exceeding £12m.

Despite the hefty price, Celtic should consider making a move for Kvistgaarden as he has shown promise with 23 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances for Brondby in the 2024/25 season. Just as they did with Edouard, the Hoops may once again find success in investing in a talented young striker who has the potential to make a significant impact on the team.
