Sunderland need to rush for Charlie Cresswell – €25m or close as competitor strikes

Two days back, Jeunes Footeux revealed that Sunderland had set their sights on Toulouse FC’s Charlie Cresswell as a top target to bolster their defense upon their return to the Premier League.

However, it seems that Sunderland may face competition from Cesc Fabregas’ Como, who are also interested in signing the young centre-back. Reports by Gianluca Di Marzio suggest that Como is currently in advanced negotiations to secure Cresswell’s services, with a deal close to being finalized.

Toulouse is said to be holding out for €25m for Cresswell, while Como’s offer falls short by €10m. It is believed that a compromise could be reached at around €16/17m between the two clubs.

Jeunes Footeux echoes these reports, claiming that both Sunderland and Como are actively pursuing the England U21 international. With Cresswell’s impressive performances since joining Toulouse from Leeds United, it seems inevitable that he will be moving on to a new club soon.

As Régis Le Bris aims to strengthen the squad to secure safety from relegation, Cresswell fits the bill perfectly for Sunderland. With Como making progress in negotiations, Sunderland may need to act swiftly and match Toulouse’s asking price to secure Cresswell’s signature.
