Sunderland has finalized a deal to bring Sassuolo winger Armand Lauriente to the club, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer is said to be worth €20m (£17m) for the talented French attacker, with negotiations on personal terms already sorted.
Lauriente is poised to be Sunderland’s seventh addition in a busy transfer window at the Stadium of Light, joining the likes of Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Enzo Le Fee, Chemsdine Talbi, Noah Sadiki, and Reinildo.
Having excelled in Serie B last season, Lauriente played a crucial role in Sassuolo’s promotion to Serie A, scoring 18 goals and assisting six in 33 league appearances.
The move to Sunderland means a reunion for Lauriente with his former manager at Lorient, Regis Le Bris, who now leads the Black Cats alongside ex-teammate Le Fee.
With experience in both Italian and French football’s top divisions, Lauriente brings a wealth of knowledge gained from his time at Sassuolo, where he made a significant impact with 24 goal contributions in his first two Serie A seasons.
Sunderland’s ambition for the upcoming season is reflected in their active transfer market approach, with efforts underway to strengthen the squad further and ensure a strong performance in their return to the top flight.
Rumors also suggest that the club is pursuing a new central defender, with a reported £23m bid for Lille’s Bafode Diakite already turned down, indicating their determination to secure key targets for the upcoming campaign.
