Sunderland have officially signed young goalkeeper Isaac Allan from Lincoln City following a successful trial period. The 18-year-old has inked a professional contract with the Black Cats and will be part of Graeme Murty’s Under-21 squad for the upcoming season.
Originally hailing from the Isle of Man, Allan took an unconventional path to academy football, attending UK Football Trials to showcase his skills. This led to opportunities with both Sheffield United and Lincoln City, where he eventually made his mark and earned a professional contract.
After progressing through Lincoln’s youth system and gaining senior recognition by being named on the bench for League One games, Allan caught the eye of Sunderland during a trial earlier this year. Known for his composure, shot-stopping ability, and comfort with the ball at his feet, Allan impressed the coaching staff and earned a permanent deal with the club.
Academy Manager Robin Nicholls expressed his delight at Allan joining Sunderland, highlighting the goalkeeper’s attributes and potential for growth in the new environment. With several other promising young talents also signing professional deals with the club, Sunderland’s academy continues to nurture and develop emerging players for future success.
