Guessand, who is also a target for Sunderland and has caught the eye of Leeds United, is an Ivory Coast international who impressed with his performances for OGC Nice last season. Valued at £22m, the 24-year-old has shown his versatility by covering multiple positions across the frontline, making him an attractive prospect for Eddie Howe’s side.
Given Isak’s status as the undisputed No.9 at Newcastle, Guessand’s ability to play in various attacking roles comes as a welcome addition. He made six appearances on the left, 13 as a central striker, and 16 on the right last season, showcasing his adaptability and flexibility on the field. The fact that he can operate anywhere across the forward line is surely a point of attraction for Howe as he looks to strengthen his squad.
Newcastle have initiated contact with Guessand’s representatives to explore the possibility of bringing him to St James’ Park. While negotiations with OGC Nice are yet to commence, the Ivorian forward’s eagerness to test himself in the Premier League could work in Newcastle’s favor in their pursuit of his signature.
