‘No distractions’ MEGA DEAL CONFIRMED as Sunderland transfer deal is completed and confirmed

Salford City has secured the return of Sunderland goalkeeper Matty Young on a season-long loan deal. The 18-year-old shot-stopper is coming back to the Peninsula Stadium after a successful spell with the League Two club last season, where he made 27 appearances.

A graduate of the Sunderland academy, Young recently got a taste of first-team action when he featured in a pre-season friendly against Sporting CP. His journey to the senior squad started in 2023 when he joined the pre-season tour of North America at just 16 years old.

After a brief loan spell at Darlington in the National League North during the 2023-24 season, Young is now back at Salford City for another season of valuable playing time. Sunderland’s sporting director, Kristjaan Speakman, expressed his satisfaction with Young’s development and the careful planning that went into deciding his next step.

With a well-established partnership between the two clubs, Young can now focus on his performances at Salford without distractions. Regular communication between the clubs will ensure that Young continues to progress and develop, with a clear vision for his future at Sunderland in mind.
