‘NO HESITATION’ : Dilane Bakwa outlines why he chose Nottingham Forest over Leeds United

Leeds United’s pursuit of winger Dilane Bakwa from RC Strasbourg came to an end on deadline day when Nottingham Forest secured his signature, despite Leeds’ persistent interest leading up to the transfer window close. It was reported that Bakwa was on Leeds’ radar for a while, but the player ultimately opted to join Forest over Leeds and Fulham after impressing in his final game for Strasbourg against AS Monaco.

Nottingham Forest’s strong interest in Bakwa was evident as they made multiple bids for the player, finally agreeing on a £34 million deal to secure his services. This left Leeds United empty-handed in their quest to bolster their squad with a talented winger like Bakwa. In an official statement, Bakwa explained his decision to join Forest, highlighting the club’s rich history and promising project under the club’s President.

Despite missing out on Bakwa and other potential signings like Facundo Buonanotte and Harry Wilson, Managing Director Robbie Evans remains positive about Leeds United’s chances in the Premier League. Evans acknowledges that adding a creative player to the squad would have been beneficial but believes that missing out on this type of player will not be detrimental to the team’s long-term survival in the top flight.

While Leeds fans may have been disappointed about missing out on Bakwa and others, Evans is confident in the current squad’s abilities and sees the team as strong enough to achieve their goals for the season. Leeds United fans will be hoping that the current players can step up and deliver results in the Premier League, despite the disappointment in the transfer market.
