According to journalist Adama Magate in an interview with Africa Foot, he believes that Simon Adingra, who recently joined Sunderland from Brighton in a €24.4m deal, could be on the move again if given the necessary playing time and confidence to excel.
Adingra had previously been highly rated at Brighton but saw a decrease in playing time under coach Fabian Hurzeler, leading to his transfer to Sunderland. Despite being a regular in the 2023/24 season with Brighton, his game time reduced in the following season, prompting his move to Sunderland as part of their summer rebuild for life in the Premier League.
Since joining Sunderland, Adingra has made a positive start, featuring in two out of three games and providing an assist in his debut match. Magate views Adingra as a talented player of the new generation who, if given the opportunity to shine and build confidence at Sunderland, could potentially outgrow the club relatively quickly due to his abilities and potential impact.
Magate believes that Adingra’s future success at Sunderland could lead to him becoming a key player for the Ivory Coast national team and attract attention from bigger clubs in the future. While Adingra is currently settling in at Sunderland and making an impact, the potential for him to move on to bigger stages exists if he continues to develop and perform well at his current club.
