Leeds put in a lot of effort to try and secure the signing of Harry Wilson, only to have Fulham derail the move. Even though Fulham managed to secure signings like Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze, a potential deal for Tyrique George fell through.
The absence of Wilson was made even more evident when he scored a crucial free-kick for Wales in their recent victory over Kazakhstan. This highlighted Leeds’ lack of a specialist in set-pieces.
Apart from Wilson, Leeds were also considering bringing back Manor Solomon to Elland Road. However, despite reports surfacing on deadline day about Leeds’ interest in him, Solomon ultimately joined Villarreal after interest from other clubs like Leicester and Crystal Palace.
Leeds missed out on Facundo Buonanotte earlier in the window and Solomon’s impressive performance for Israel against Moldova was a stark reminder of what Leeds passed up on. Solomon’s display was described as exceptional by Israeli media, showcasing his talent on the field.
Solomon’s journey back to Tottenham and then to Leeds was ultimately a missed opportunity for the club. While Leeds may have felt they had progressed beyond the need for Solomon, his performance for Villarreal and Israel proved that he could have made a significant impact for them in the Premier League as well.
