Luton Town Signs Ali Al-Hamadi on Loan with Obligation to Buy
Luton Town has agreed to a deadline-day deal with Ipswich Town to bring forward Ali Al-Hamadi to Kenilworth Road for the remainder of the season, with an obligation to make the move permanent thereafter. The deal reportedly amounts to £3 million and is expected to help the Hatters contend for promotion from League One.
Al-Hamadi, 23, struggled for game time at Ipswich Town and had a stint on loan at Stoke City last term, scoring two goals in 15 Championship appearances. Despite showing promise at AFC Wimbledon, where he was a prolific scorer, he failed to kick on at Ipswich.
Luton fan pundit Simon Mills believes the signing will work well for all parties. He thinks Al-Hamadi’s relationship with Matt Bloomfield, a former teammate at Wycombe Wanderers, will help him become a key part of the side. Mills said: “I think Al-Hamadi suits us down to the ground, and I think it’s the same for him. He needs a club like us, and we need a player like him.”
Mills added that Al-Hamadi’s signing could be a success, despite the team’s abundance of attacking options. He noted that Adebayo is out for an extended period, and Jacob Brown’s role in the team’s plans is uncertain.
