Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new head coach of Nottingham Forest, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo. The decision from Evangelos Marinakis came after a breakdown in the relationship with Espirito Santo at the beginning of the season.
The Portuguese manager was unhappy with the club’s slow approach to the transfer window and disagreements over potential signings, including Adama Traore from Fulham. Despite being rewarded with new additions, including after qualifying for the Europa League, tensions rose between Espirito Santo and the club hierarchy.
Postecoglou now steps in as the new head coach, with his debut game against Arsenal scheduled for Saturday. Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton commended the appointment, expressing his support for Postecoglou and wishing him success at the club, which Sutton supported as a child.
Postecoglou has already begun his work at Nottingham Forest, assembling his backroom team for the City Ground. The appointment has garnered support from Australian fans, including Tim Cahill who shares a personal connection through his son Shea’s involvement in the Forest academy.
As Postecoglou takes charge, the focus will be on a positive start to his tenure at Forest, aiming to dispel any doubts and fears among supporters and set the team on a successful path under his leadership.
