Since leaving Forest, Espirito Santo has been linked to West Ham, where he may have the opportunity to manage a player he originally wanted at Forest. Espirito Santo expressed interest in signing Manuel Fernandes from Southampton, but Forest ultimately signed Douglas Luiz instead.
Even though Fernandes had a hefty price tag that deterred Forest from pursuing the deal, he now finds himself at West Ham. Should Espirito Santo take up the managerial role at West Ham, it would be a chance for him to work with the player he previously admired.
While Espirito Santo is a potential candidate to replace Graham Potter at West Ham, there are other names on the shortlist for the managerial position. Gary O’Neil is being considered for an interview, and Slaven Bilic could also make a comeback to the club.
West Ham’s only victory this season came against Espirito Santo’s Forest team, highlighting the challenging situation for the former Forest manager. It remains to be seen if Espirito Santo will secure a position in another Premier League club this season, with the hopes that he won’t take on a new role.
Despite the uncertainties, Fernandes is likely to support Espirito Santo, considering the coach’s previous interest in signing him during the summer transfer window.
