Vemund Brekke Skard, a former player for Ipswich Town, recently shared his disappointment and frustration regarding his departure from the club. Skard, a Norwegian player, joined Ipswich Town in 2006 but only made three appearances for the team during his time in England. His spell with the club was not successful, and he ultimately agreed to cancel his contract when Jim Magilton took over as manager, replacing Joe Royle.
In an interview with the East Anglian Daily Times, Skard revealed that he was surprised by the decision to let him go and expressed his anger at himself for agreeing to cancel his contract early. He mentioned that he felt he should have stayed and fought for his place in the team, even if he was relegated to the youth team.
Skard reflected on his time at Ipswich Town, acknowledging the rare opportunity he had as a player from the Norwegian third level to play for the club. Despite his disappointment over how things ended, he expressed gratitude for the experience and wished he had handled the situation differently.
Interestingly, Ipswich Town recently signed another Norwegian player, Sindre Walle Egeli, for a significant fee of £17.5 million. Skard, one of the three Norwegians to have represented the club, shared his thoughts on the new signing, expressing hope that Egeli would have more success at Ipswich Town than he did. He welcomed the addition of another Norwegian player to the team and wished Egeli well in his career with the club.
