Ange Postecoglou’s tenure as Nottingham Forest manager ultimately proved unsuccessful as he was unable to secure a victory in any of his eight games in charge at the City Ground. The Australian manager took over from Nuno Espirito Santo early in the season but was relieved of his duties following a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on October 18.
The swift decision to part ways with Postecoglou led to the appointment of Sean Dyche as his replacement on October 21. Dyche’s first game in charge saw Forest claim a 2-0 victory over Porto in the Europa League, but they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth in their subsequent Premier League fixture on October 26.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson highlighted that some of Forest’s players had issues with Postecoglou during his short time at the club, leading to his swift departure after just 39 days in charge. Borson suggested that resolving any internal conflicts could see Forest make a quick turnaround in their league position and focus on their Europa League campaign.
Currently sitting 17th in the league phase of the Europa League with four points from three matches, Forest are looking to improve their position under Dyche’s guidance. The newly appointed manager, who signed a contract until 2027, won’t have a significant transfer budget to work with in the upcoming January window. Despite the club’s substantial summer spending of over £200 million on new arrivals, Dyche will need to work with the existing squad to move Forest up the Premier League table, where they currently sit in 18th place, three points behind fourth-bottom Fulham after nine games.
