Crystal Palace have made a solid bid to secure the services of Bayern Munich defender Sacha Boey in the upcoming January transfer window, according to Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri. The club is reportedly interested in strengthening their squad following public criticism from manager Oliver Glasner regarding the lack of investment during the summer transfer window.
The Selhurst Park outfit is said to be actively engaging with Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund in negotiations for Boey, who is seeking a move away from the German giants due to limited playing time under manager Vincent Kompany. Boey has started just six matches for Bayern this season and made eight substitute appearances, prompting his desire for more regular first-team opportunities.
Reports suggest that Glasner is particularly eager to bring Boey on board in January to provide additional options at right-back, where he has heavily relied on Daniel Munoz thus far. Boey, who joined Bayern from Galatasaray in January 2024, is reportedly determined to secure playing time after facing challenges with injuries during the previous season.
Despite Boey’s contract with Bayern running until 2028, the 25-year-old is looking to secure a move to a club where he can make a more significant impact on the pitch. Glasner has been vocal about Palace’s lack of spending in the summer transfer window, acknowledging that the club made mistakes by not adding sufficient reinforcements to the squad.
Regarding potential transfer activity in January, Glasner hinted at rectifying the shortcomings from the previous window. Meanwhile, Marc Guehi, who was close to joining Liverpool in the summer, is likely to stay at Crystal Palace until the end of his contract before assessing his future options next summer amid continued interest from a host of clubs.
