The Italian goalkeeper appeared to lose his cool after the final whistle, squaring up to O’Nien on the touchline. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola intervened to diffuse the situation, but O’Nien wasn’t done yet. The draw was a disappointing result for Manchester City, who dominated possession and created numerous chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. The result means City have slipped four points behind league leaders Arsenal, and Guardiola wasn’t pleased with his team’s performance.
“It is a tough place to come,” Guardiola said. “The amount of chances we missed in the six-yard box, not difficult ones… We didn’t do what we talked about in the first half, but in general, it was a really good game. We created enough chances, but unfortunately, we couldn’t do it.”

The point was a valuable one for Sunderland, who remain unbeaten at home this season. They have won five and drawn five of their fixtures at the Stadium of Light, including draws with Arsenal, City, and Aston Villa. Manager Regis Le Bris was proud of his team’s performance, saying: “It was a good game against a really strong opponent who are one of the best in Europe. We showed we can defend properly and manage the ball in the final third.”
