Lucca, who is currently on loan at Napoli with an obligation to buy in the summer, has found it challenging to secure a regular spot in the team, especially with Romelu Lukaku sidelined due to injury this season.
In search of more playing time, Italian outlet La Repubblica, as reported by CalcioNapoli24, disclosed Nottingham Forest’s interest in the 25-year-old striker, along with six other clubs including AS Roma, Lazio, Porto, Benfica, Juventus, and Real Betis. Napoli is contemplating parting ways with Lucca, but technical considerations could delay his departure.
The challenge lies in Napoli not having secured Lucca’s permanent transfer from Udinese. They are now faced with the decision to finalize the deal before considering a sale or engaging in renegotiations to facilitate his departure.
A resolution on his future is anticipated next week, with Benfica currently leading the race for his signature. However, there is still hope for Nottingham Forest in securing the player, provided they are willing to pay €30 million for a permanent move.
Lucca’s chances of making Italy’s World Cup squad could be jeopardized if his playing situation does not improve, assuming Italy qualify for the tournament.
