Leeds United smoothly secured their spot in the FA Cup’s next round with a convincing 3-1 victory over Derby County at Pride Park this past Sunday.
Despite being the favorites heading into the match, Leeds faced some adversity. Joel Piroe missed a penalty in the first half, and Derby County took the lead shortly after with a goal from Ben Brereton Diaz.
Leeds, however, quickly equalized with a goal from Willy Gnonto early in the second half, followed by goals from Ao Tanaka and James Justin to seal the win for the West Yorkshire side.
One player who failed to impress during the match was summer signing Noah Okafor. The winger, who joined Leeds from AC Milan, has received criticism for his inconsistent performances this season.
Okafor, who struggled in the match against Derby, was lacking in his final product, managing only two goals in his 20 appearances across all competitions and failing to provide any assists.
With only one of his shots on target and one completed cross, Okafor gave the ball away 13 times during the game, ultimately leading to his substitution in the 89th minute.
After yet another disappointing performance, Okafor may find himself on the sidelines as manager Farke opts for other players like Brenden Aaronson instead. While Okafor had been seeing more minutes due to injuries, his lackluster showing against Derby could see him benched for future matches.
