OKC has officially ruled out 10 players for Sunday night’s home matchup against the Phoenix Suns, a decision that underscores their focus on preserving health after clinching the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. With a league-best 64–17 record, the Thunder have nothing left to gain in the standings, allowing them to take a cautious approach.
Among the notable absences are franchise cornerstone Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, rising star Jalen Williams, and standout big man Chet Holmgren. Key contributors Isaiah Hartenstein, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Joe, and Cason Wallace are also sidelined, along with Jaylin Williams, Ajay Mitchell, and Thomas Sorber.
This marks the second straight game OKC has leaned heavily on its reserves, following a 127–107 loss to the Denver Nuggets in which the same group of players sat out. The Thunder will once again roll out a limited rotation, with just eight players available — including three on two-way contracts.
Lu Dort headlines the active roster and stands as the team’s only regular starter expected to play. His appearance carries added significance, as he needs to log at least 20 minutes to meet the NBA’s 65-game eligibility rule for end-of-season awards.
The rest of the available lineup includes Jared McCain, Aaron Wiggins, Kenrich Williams, Nikola Topić, Branden Carlson, Brooks Barnhizer, and Payton Sandfort — a mix of role players and developing talent eager to make the most of extended minutes.
On the other side, the Suns are also dealing with injury concerns. Devin Booker and Grayson Allen have both been ruled out, while several others — including Collin Gillespie and Jalen Green — are listed as questionable. Phoenix enters the game with more at stake but may also be limited in firepower.
For Oklahoma City, however, the strategy is simple: stay healthy and prepare for the bigger picture. With a deep roster, elite chemistry, and home-court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs, the Thunder are positioning themselves as a serious championship contender.
