Leicester City defender Victor Kristiansen opens up about the impact of his January transfer and his hopes for the future.
In January of this year, the 20-year-old made a £17million move from FC Copenhagen to Leicester City. However, his time at the club was not without its challenges, as he made 12 appearances in the Premier League during their relegation to the Championship.
Kristiansen, who is currently on loan at Italian club Bologna, has expressed his struggles with joining a team that he described as “dysfunctional.” He revealed that he felt alone and that the experience has left mental scars.
“It has been a tough journey,” Kristiansen told media in Denmark. “I went through a difficult transition, joining a team under pressure with a coach (Brendan Rodgers) who was later dismissed. As a young and newly acquired player, I found myself in a position where I had to help save the club.
“I felt isolated and questioned if this was what it was truly like to play abroad. It was a challenging experience that has left its mark on me. This was far from what I had anticipated when I made the move.”
Kristiansen expressed relief that a solution was found for him to be loaned out to Bologna and expressed optimism about his future. “I have settled in well at Bologna and hope for a positive outcome next summer.”
