Leeds United are reportedly actively seeking a new full-back before the summer transfer deadline. The Whites are particularly interested in securing a left-sided defender to provide valuable backup for Junior Firpo.
The team managed by Daniel Farke has bid farewell to a number of full-backs this summer, leaving them lacking in depth in that area. The recent acquisition of Jayden Bogle for a fee of £5 million is seen as a significant signing, with him set to don the no. 2 jersey for the upcoming season.
With just three full-back options currently in the squad, Leeds are in urgent need of another player in that position. Reports suggest that Wolves’ Hugo Bueno and Milan’s Fode Ballo-Toure are on the club’s radar as potential additions.
Ballo-Toure’s agents have reportedly offered his services to Ipswich Town, although a move to the newly-promoted Championship side may not be the best move for the player. This is primarily due to the presence of Leif Davis, who was a standout performer in the Championship last season and is a key fixture in Kieran McKenna’s plans. In the event that Ballo-Toure were to join Ipswich, he may struggle to displace Davis as the preferred left-back choice.
Therefore, if Leeds are serious about securing the services of Ballo-Toure, they should not be deterred by the potential move to Ipswich. Given Davis’ importance to the team’s defense, Leeds could still be a more appealing option for the Senegalese full-back looking to make a mark in the Premier League.
