John Hartson has criticized Norwich for their valuation of Adam Idah as Celtic looks to secure a permanent return for the striker. Despite skepticism from fans initially, Brendan Rodgers’ decision to bring Idah on loan proved to be a successful move, with the player scoring crucial goals in the title race and Scottish Cup final.
With Rocco Vata leaving and Oh sold to Genk, Kyogo is now the only senior center forward at the club. Rodgers hopes to have three options for the striking position, meaning two more signings are needed. While Idah is a preferred choice, Norwich is reluctant to let go of the 23-year-old, reportedly valuing him at around £7.5 million.
Hartson expressed frustration at Norwich’s stance, believing they are being greedy considering Idah’s limited experience. He feels Celtic gave Idah a platform to shine and is disappointed by the club’s hefty asking price. The discussion then turned to comparing Idah with Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski, with Hartson admitting to being impressed by Idah’s impact at Celtic.
“I was advocating for Miovski initially, but Idah proved to be fantastic,” Hartson commented. “He scored important goals for Celtic and made a name for himself. Norwich’s valuation seems excessive considering his limited playing time.”
