“He’d have been a better option because..” -Dyche makes shocking decision to pass on Everton star in favor of ‘magic’ player – and it only cost him £2m more!

Everton has had an incredibly successful summer, seamlessly completing deals for four new players and securing Jack Harrison on loan. Manager Sean Dyche must be thrilled with the squad’s transformation, which is now filled with quality players in every position except for the absence of Amadou Onana.

However, there has been one setback that has plagued the Toffees – their failed attempts to sign Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United. Despite multiple bids, including a £23m offer this window, Gnonto remains at Elland Road. Instead of focusing solely on Gnonto, Everton could have considered signing Crysencio Summerville from Leeds for a similar price of £25m, like West Ham did.

Summerville was a standout performer for Leeds last season, winning the Championship Player of the Year award with 19 goals and nine assists. Despite Gnonto’s potential, Summerville’s impact on the Leeds team was undeniable, showcasing his quality and importance to the squad.

If Everton had not been fixated on Gnonto, they could have seen the value and talent Summerville brought to the table. Sometimes, looking beyond our initial target can lead to discovering an even greater opportunity right in front of us.
