“IT WAS HEARTBREAKING” -Fewer touches than Meslier: Farke must drop 4/10 Leeds flop who made just 6 passes – opinion

In the Midlands on Saturday afternoon, Leeds United’s disappointing start to the season continued as Daniel Farke’s team had to settle for a point in a goalless draw with West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Considering the struggles of the past week, it was actually a decent result for Leeds. The team had previously drawn 3-3 with Portsmouth and suffered a heavy defeat against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup, conceding six goals in their first two matches for the first time since 1959.

The absence of Georginio Rutter, who was sold to Brighton for £40m, was keenly felt during the game. Leeds had a lacklustre performance, managing just six touches in the opponent’s box and a 50% pass accuracy in the final third.

Joel Piroe, who replaced Rutter in the lineup, failed to make an impact and was heavily criticized for his poor performance. The Dutchman’s struggles in the number 10 role were evident as he had just 23 touches, lost possession 13 times, and won only one of his eight duels.

Overall, it was a disappointing display for Piroe and Leeds fans will be hoping for improvements as the season progresses. Farke will need to find a solution to the Rutter-shaped hole in his side, possibly by trying a different approach in the upcoming matches.
