PERMANENT DONE DEAL-Medical booked – West Brom are set to finalise £3m sensational transfer deal in blow to Burnley and Sheffield United

West Bromwich Albion have emerged victorious in the race to sign Celtic star Mikey Johnston, triumphing over competition from Burnley and Sheffield United. After a triumphant loan spell at The Hawthorns, Johnston is now poised to make a permanent move to the club, bringing his talents to West Brom for the foreseeable future.

The negotiations saw a £3 million bid put forth by West Brom, with both Burnley and Sheffield United having their proposals accepted as well. However, Johnston ultimately made the decision to return to West Brom, turning down the offers from the other two clubs. A medical is scheduled for today to wrap up the deal just in time for the looming transfer deadline on Friday.

A dynamic Republic of Ireland international, Johnston boasts an impressive 11 caps for his national team. His contribution during the loan spell at West Brom last season was significant, as he delivered seven goals and one assist in 18 Championship appearances. Despite experiencing challenges in securing a regular starting role at Celtic, Johnston’s loan stints at various clubs, including a notable spell at Vitória Guimarães SC in Portugal, have allowed him to demonstrate his talent and potential on the field.

Should the deal come to fruition, Johnston will add to Carlos Corberan’s squad as the manager’s 10th summer signing. Joining the likes of Callum Styles, Uroš Račić, and Gianluca Frabotta, Johnston’s return to The Hawthorns is sure to invigorate both the team and the fans alike, offering a glimpse of exciting possibilities on the horizon for West Brom.
